A question and an update... update... I am following Rich's propagation method exclusively (Thanks Rich! Looking forward to reading about your supermega mix) . I just uppotted my top three cuttings. They are negronne (started 11/19) and carini (started 11/25, thanks figgyfrank!)…currently in humidity chamber and doing well: chicago hardy, lattarula, sal's and LSU tiger question(s) for experienced members… Being a noob and all, what makes a cutting good? What should one look for? Are tip cuttings more desirable? Number of nodes?

I couldn't tell you, but hot damn. I started mine around that time, and although I've repeatedly shot myself in the foot and slowed down the entire process, my best performing cuttings only have 4-5 leaves. That's some impressive work!

WOW! I hope for results like yours. I am going to have to study the method you are using.

I'm no expert, but fresh cuttings have worked best for me. At least 3 nodes, more doesn't hurt. Tip cuttings tend to grow straighter for me. Great job with your cuttings! I received great cuttings from Frank as well. I found Unk Carini to be a very robust grower, they all rooted quickly.
