What?!!! Please Help!

I need some help!  My cuttings as a whole seem like they are doing well, thriving, leafing and rooting.  However there are a few that are leafed out then suddenly wilt and wont recover. Then there are others that have new bed growth that is browning and dying.  What is causing this?  I realized I was over watering my new cuttings about 10 days ago.  Added more perilite and let them dry until it was completely dry or it's leaves didn't have quite the spring to them before watering.  Some of these with the browning buds are newly planted and were not over watered. I planted them in previously dampened soil.  I have them on a heating pad underneath the tote they are in. At night I put the lids on the cuttings.  They were getting 6 hours of light, and were looking green but I read others had the lights on longer so I increases the light to 10 hours about three or four days ago.  I also mist the leaves a few times a day. For a few months I've had a few looking good, then wilt and die and a few with new buds that brown and die.  Some have roots that look browned and thin (but the leaves still look good?)  Some drop their lower leaves.  It's about 10% that this is happening to.  Could it be too much humidity?  I just don't know!
Oh Help!  Is there anything I can do to stop this or is it unavoidable? I've tried to add pictures for the first time, so hopefully that works.
Thank you for your help!

Sarah, this is normal, leaves that form in the box, rarely make  and new growth will appear.  You leave them alone, I have a few that the sprout like yours, died, but the cutting was still firm, so I fluffed the soil gently around the cutting, to air it out more, and put that cover fo humidity. They are adjusting to light, moist, soil. lots to transition.  Definately allow the soil to dry.. Make sure the new cups have plenty of holes, so they breath.

these look fine! they will recover. They don't like to be shaking and moving too much, I would just rotate the box around, so light gets them all. OH fig nurturing joy!

Okay, I uprooted 6 of the plants and split the cutting lengthwise that had leaves wilt and fall die (not ones with the browned bud tips).  All but one seemed to be damaged from previously over watering.  One however had very very small but very long for their fine thread like size larvae in the center of the cutting about a half inch up from the root.  There is a white spot at the head but no black face spot like the fungus fly larvae pictures I've seen.  Nematodes, but those are not in potting soil...? Shorefly??
Here is a picture, the best I had.  Those are the tips of tweezers and the larvae is bent here.

Sarah! eww, if not one thing is another, huh?  I hope you find a solution.  All these insects need moisture to survive and our figs need less moist ...so, we just have to learn how to balance and prevent these creatures from munching our babies... that is a challenge for sure.

As much as I hate the idea of poisoning, I got this at Lowe's and applied to all in addition to the mosquito dunking and soapwater dunking.

I sprinkled on the semi dried top of the soil and young leaves. I have not seen any live flies for a few days now.

Every cup I inspect, and shift the soil, I put a bit of this near the cutting.  Crossing fingers, as praying does not help with this.

Good luck there!

Thanks Mike and Grasa.  When they are ready for watering I'm going to juice em up with BTi for awhile.  Keep my fingers crossed.  So far I haven't lost any varieties entirely, just the extras... I sure hope I can get this straightened out.  I know not enough humidity isn't the problem, but I do worry about too much still.  Anyone buy one of those meters?  How much humidity should they have?
