What to do?

Well it seems that I am without cuttings to root. That is until my UCDavis order comes in and I'm not sure what to expect there either. What to do in the meantime? I'm getting stir crazy not having something to plant/root/grow. I've started ordering grape cuttings but it's going to be the end of January for them to get here. I would go till the garden for something to do but with our rain the garden is nothing but a mudhole right now.

Well Warrior,

As I sit here and wipe the tears from my eyes and type ( LOL ).

First of all, I would ask my self ( If I were in your shoes ) how much did I pay for the cuttings?
How much is it going to cost me to return them?
How quick would he refund my money?

I promised another member my cuttings which I am shipping out tomorrow at my cost, Only because they're going to a school as a science project and promised a couple small plant to her for spring.

But I think I can cut a few more for you. One or two here and one or two there and put together about ten cuttings.
Just don't want to do anymore cutting than that. Have to save the rest of the trees for my self.

rafed, thanks for the offer. I'm not asking for cuttings just commenting on my luck. :(
I guess I need to slow down on the figs and get to know who has what and who to buy from.

BTW, 41.50 total. 21.50 ebay and 20 for extras. 4.95 to mail. It ain't going to break me if he stiffs me on the money, I'll chalk it up to lesson learned.

What to grow now? This is meant to turn that frown upside down.

I know you weren't asking for anything thing.
And I understand your frustration.

Have to agree with you, It would be a small price to pay to learn a lesson.
Though this person lives about 15 minutes from my house I have never dealt with him  ( almost did ) and I also reserve my comment. But like you, I have read the horror stories about him and I will leave it at that.

My offer to you stands and I'm sure you will get many more.
It's not about pride my friend. It's members helping other members from the goodness of their hearts.

I myself have received cuttings and have been offered cutting from members.
That's what makes this hobby that extra special.

Let me know if you are interested.

Dave, you are better off  to return those cuttings. In my case this year, I was so happy when the cuttings rooted & if not for the variant info from this forum I would have traded some of the fake rooted cuttings with a well known fig friend.  I had one of the cuttings given to another  friend & info came as "Brunswick". The irony of my case is I never solicit the trade with this fraudster and I trusted the offerings to trade. Well, it was a lesson.

If you want cuttings from a reliable source, try writing to Jon, Gorgi, Herman or Bass. At least you know what you are getting.

warrior- PM me

David - if you are passing through Atlanta, I have some cuttings I can share, all are in baggies, some showing initials, about to be put in pots.  Some others are stubborn.  All kinds of varieties, from Sal's (Gene) to Negronne to a few unknowns.  All over the map.  I've been hesitant to send stuff out (sorry to Gene Colin!) because we are slated for below-freezing temps the next couple of days.  I am trying to figure out a good way to freeze-proof the package!

I just sent a package to upstate NY and one is coming to me in Wis. in trade. I'm not worried about cold. My green house is hovering around 35F and my trees are ready for anything.... except a trip to Nome, AK. haha.  As long as there are no leaves I say go for it.
