What to do with my 2 weeks cutting?

My fig cutting that I directly planted to a mix of peat, compost and perlite has no visible root on the soil/medium but is having roots on the top node above the soil, what should I do with it?

Get a deeper pot and get the roots in the mix.  That what I would do

cut the cutting right bellow root level and plant it. Make sure to use a cover as well. like this.

I'd leave it be.  Roots will more than likely start to show in the peat mix shortly.  Those air roots will shrivel up and die, but shouldn't harm your plant, at least that's been my experience.

Hi,
I would use a pot that fits over the cup and cut the bottom of the pot - you will end with a cup with a sleeve over it .
Fill the sleeve/cup with dirt up to the level of the root birthpoint . Be careful as those roots are like glass, and will break easily .

Guys thank you so much for all of your advice! :)

I experienced the same problem with peat many years ago and quit using it.

The mix *looks* very wet and heavy.  I would use (bury) those roots unless you're sure there are roots in the container.  There may be roots in the soil as the number of leaves this one has usually indicates happy roots.  Because they're so pale you either need dilute fertilizer, more light or both.  Be sure the soil mix allows air to get to the roots.

Thank you rcantor.
