What to do with no hope main crop?

I have Desert King and Violetta trees planted in August 2011.  Got a few brebas from both plants.  Now each plant has about a dozen thumb-sized main crop figs coming on which are very unlikely to ripen up here on the 47th parallel.

Should I pick them off or let them go?

demonick,

Let them go until dormancy, then pick all of them off when the leaves aren't in the way.  Some times if left on the tree over winter they act as points for mold to set in and can cause minor die-back of the limb.

For DK, they need the wasp to ripen.  Pick them all off now.  They are sucking energy off the tree that it could put to better use.  For the violetta, take most or all but 1 off and let it try to ripen one.  If you have a S or W window you could bring it in once temps get too low and have it finish the ripening, then let it go dormant, especially if you have lights to help.  That's my opinion.

Some suggest picking off the main crop of Desert King will hinder the breba crop for the next year, I have no experience with that though.
