What type of fig tree do I have?

I just bought a fig tree for the hell of it.  I grow almost everything else and I thought a fig tree would be an interesting addition.
However,  I forgot to ask what type of fig tree it is.  So if anyone could tell me what type it is, I would greatly appreciate it. :)

Uh-oh growing a fig tree starts an addiction. unfortunatly i think in cases of ID you need a rip fruit cut open with a few leaves to compair to others. but i am 100% sure some one who knows alot more than myself will chime in.

Yeah, Dave is right!  They are going to want a picture of a ripened fruit with a quarter next to it and one cut in half to see the inside.  Pictures of a leaf is also helpful along with any info on the growth habit a leaf shape and size.  Try contacting the place you purchased the tree - they may know or be able to find out.  That being said, they might be wrong!!  I bought my tree last year at a small local nursery chain.  The tree was labeled by the wholesaler and they were wrong!  The fruit was nothing like the label said it would be lol.  That was OK because I am thrilled with the tree I have;)

How about an introduction?  Are you in the US?  What state and what climate zone?  This is a great bunch of people with a common love of figs - they are pretty passionate about them also lol!

For a quick answer about the variety, try going back to where you bought it and ask the seller.  Hopefully they will know.

And I'm wondering what that vine is growing behind the fig? Very interesting leaf, is it a hoya? Welcome to the forum

Figs are sort of categorized, and their names are so confusing because one fig can be called thousands of things.  Your fig looks like the leaves have strong ribs and so does the unripe fruit.  The fruit has a definite shape.   It would definitely help if we knew the leaf shape and (what's weird is a fig's leaves are never all the same, but some are dominant), the color when ripe of the fig outside and in.

I'm attaching a couple guides that may help you!  They are pdf files, and they won't show here like a jpeg will.  click on the attachments if you wish to see.

hahah it starts an addiction!  How do you figure ? :)
Thanks for the advice though.

all figs have differant taste, you find one you like, then you find another, then before you know it you got a feww hundred cuttings going. and it can happen that quick.

I actually have no idea what type of vine it is.   Someone suggested it to be "Morning Glory"  but I'm not sure about that.   This vine in the picture is a monster plant.  It has 10 roots and its got to be hundreds if not thousands of feet long.
It gets way too hot in the summers here so we just let it take over the backyard.  This is just a fraction of the plant.

The guides were very helpful , thanks so much :)   I appreciate everyone's input.

i wouldnt say morning glory the leaf dont look three lobed. if its thre lobed it may be. if not try four o clocks.

Dave

Wow!!  That has a jungle like taken over appearance! Yes it looks like morning glory.

This is the Morning Glory vine...i had to use Round Up to destroy mine..

I would narrow the fig down to Italian Honey or Lattarulla? I would compare it to my White Greek but the fruit in your picture is a bit too Green.
