Sorry Mike for stealing your subject line.
I'm almost embarrassed for showing this, but Mike's posting gave me the courage to come forward with my nemesis, my FrankenFig. I'm so ashamed. I might get thrown off this forum or banned for such bad parenting.
It is my Green Ischia rooting in a deli container in a temp controlled RubberMaid conatiner. It has been rooting for about 3 weeks now and actually has roots I can see through the deli container. There are no signs whatever of leaves however. I'm patient and willing to wait. I should also add that I have tried the bleach solution, peroxide solution and disinfectant wipes to try to get rid of the mold with no luck, so now I am willing to let nature take its course if need be. This is the only cutting with a continuing mold issue. I have had three other cutting types that were ~1 inch in diameter and had mold on the cut end, but was controlled by the bleach solution.
Along Mikes thoughts, I was considering cutting just below the roots in the photo and planting that smaller cutting in the hopes of getting a leafing specimen from one of the cuttings. After reading the suggestions from his post I'm going to wait and hope for leaves.
Any additional thoughts?
