What's doing this to my fig leaves?

Is this a fungus, too much sunshine, over-fertilizing or a critter doing this to the leaves?

Have you searched around for any slugs or snails nearby?

It definitely looks like something was chewing as it walked on the leaf, especially the leaf on the right.

Check the plants about 10 o'clock at night with a flashlight and you may have an epiphany.

Well that's better news than fungus.  Time to break open the Sluggo.

Well, I think I've found the vile little creature that's been eating holes in my fig leaves, or at least one of the creatures.  This morning I found that now my Figo Preto's been chewed on too.  I looked under the leaf and found this caterpillar.  I also remembered that I've been seeing a lot of moths hanging around my figs lately.

I had the same type of damage done to my cowpeas. It was a green caterpillar. I guess I was fortunate they ignored the nearby figs in favor of the peas. They can be very small and hard to spot when they are young but they can get big in no time. I managed to pull them all off and kill them within a couple days.
