What's Eating My leaves?

I know we're here to talk figs, but I have a baby cherry tree growing right next to my figs and something is attacking it.  I'm afraid whatever's eating the leaves might go after my fig leaves, if not already.

See below for all the holes in the leaves.

Any ideas?

I noticed some holes in some fig leaves....is it the same pest causing this, or just natural?

Looks exactly like my cherry tree. Japanese Beetle is my guess.

Could be cucumber beetles, earwigs, etc.. Check around 10 o'clock at night with a flashlight

Ok, I'll check and night and see if I a can find anything.

The next question is, what do I do to get rid of them?  Is there a universal way to stop leaf eating bugs?

Jap beetles for sure. Their trademark is skelotinized leaves.

Another vote for the JB here.

My cherry tree too.

Does not look much like my cherry tree leaves - mine looked like brown lace when the Japanese beetles got hold of them.  After some Triazide spray the new leaves look better.
Yes, looks like Jap beetle damage.  They have not bothered my figs, too many plum, peach, cherry and grape leaves to attack.

Ok, so I looked around, no Japanese beetles on the tree.   I took pictures and noted a black ladybug like beetle with a red dot - could that be the culprit?

Also, I noticed these eggs on the underside of the leaves - any correlation with that and something eating the leaves?
