Good day and have fig day! Over the weekend, I started moving a few plants around and found a tree with a bit of history. This tree believe it or not is over 10 years old! I bought 10 years ago from Ty Ty. Back then, I never heard of Ty Ty and bought 4 large trees from them in early Spring. All 4 were planted in my orchard back in 2005. They were 6 feet tall. Two turned out to be Celeste and I kept those. The other 2 did not do well in my climate. Both died to ground and came back every year. One died and this is the last one. THis fig is suppose to be Kadota but it is not Kadota. It does not have FMV. Back then I ordered Black Jack, Peter's Honey, Italian Everbearing and Kadota. I did not bother to contact Ty Ty but I did start my search and found out some not so good information about the nursery. So, I let by gones be by gones and moved on.
This tree use to be a tall 6 foot tree. Over the years, I neglected it. Never fertilized, just left it in my orchard and it looked pretty bad. Last Fall I dug it up and took it down to just plain of roots. I soaked the root ball in some root stimulator, potted it up and stuck it in my garage. This Spring it came to life and out popped a few figs. So, I decided to keep it. At least it's not another Celeste and I have plenty of those! Any way, do anyone want to guess what this is? Honestly, I have no idea. The figs are medium size, tight pink eye. It might be Italian Everbearing....I really don't know. I love the leaf pattern...3 lobes. I'm going to give it some of my Grow Big liquid fertilizer over the next 3 weeks and see what happens. Thanks for watching.
