What's the best new fig variant taste 2012

Had the opportunity to sample the following new variants in 2012 :
Florea
Morena
Rosetta
Ronde de Bordeaux
Vern's BT
Tarantulla

The best is Rosetta. It is a dark fig. Will try to post picture.

Don't have pix ready yet, but one called Neri turned out to be a nice fig. Lisa has finally matured and was exceptional. Len also turned out to be a surprise and quite good.

Yes Paul,

Please show us the Rosetta.

Thank you.

Jon,
Is Neri a dark type? On the varities page there are 2 Neri's and the one looks like a white type

Has to be Bisirri Dark (large) and Blanca de Maella. The Bisirri was so good I was stunned. I'd tasted the Bisirri Dark (small) before which is also very good but this one took me by surprise. And Blanca de Maella produced it's first fig and was excellent! Both trees earned repotting into very large pots so they will hopefully be much more productive next year

2 different trees from the same source. Bisirri Dark (large) is actually the true Bisirri. The small may be a Gino's. There is some confusion about a couple figs sourced from Bisirri's which I wrote about in another thread. The large dark is awesome!

I really enjoyed the Fig De Parfum and Bianchetta.
I tried for the first time the Blanche De Deaux Saisons today.
Despite it wasn't fully ripe the fig was tasty and has potential. It was green with deep red pulp.

I also really liked my new Blanche de Deux Saisons. Not only is the flavor complex and excellent but the fig is beautiful.

Paully22,
Have a couple years experience now with Morena and really like it. I notice a cutting was recently sold on Ebay - but the photo looks nothing like my Morenas. hmm.

Michael, do you have any pictures of Morena? I've never heard of it.

Lubera in Germany and Switzerland sell it. There's plenty of photos on google through them but if you can't find post again and I'll dig up a photo. My computer is acting up again and it's making me grumpy.
"These pretzels are making me thirsty".
I've been growing Morena for a few years. I got a large bush from Gene Hosey's collection. They are supposed to be very cold hardy.
I got a huge crop this year - I'm still harvesting a few.

Michael, did you move your plant in out of the cold Sunday night? It was 28F here and all my leaves were killed. Some figs dropped, some had damage at the neck or shriveled the whole fig, and some seem to have not been affected.

ebay buyers beware. Best to buy from known sellers. I rarely check ebay for fig materials and have never
bought fig materials on ebay. There are many good varieties around here as we have a large population of
migrants from lands of figs. Sharing is common and I have not come across any home owners who have
refused to give me cuttings. I have got invites to homes of strangers who saw my trees and invited me to
drop by to get cuttings or sample their figs.

Morena is a productive and reliable tree. A keeper for me. Next season I would allow roots to grow in ground
from its pot.

Thanks Michael,
I have never heard of it, I had already searched the name on F4F but got nothing but one thread with no pics. I didn't know it was sold commercially overseas, got some images pretty quick using google. You caught me off guard the quote from Seinfeld, I had to think about it for a bit.

Anything Lubera sells and patented are just varieties they got from Mercato Verde and renamed to make some $$$$$.
If you go to the Lubera site and to the Mercato verde site just compare the pictures and it's not hard to tell what is what.
Talk to any European fig enthousiast and he will tell you the same about Lubera.
