This is my first spring with figs. I'm a little impatient to wait to find out. What is the thing in between the leaf and the stem turn into? Figs? Stem? Leaf?

Thanks

They look like branches forming to me.  If it's pointy and gets more pointy as it grows its a branch, if round and gets more round its a fig.

From my experience, it could be a branch, a fig, or simply nothing.  Trust me, I've watched in anticipation just like you.  ;)

I'm with Frank. Could be anything but you did do it regardless. You have a lovely looking fig tree. Congrats!

I had an Atreano that did this last year.  It looked exactly like yours.  I thought for sure I'd get figs from that tree.  After a couple months, nothing came of it.  Not one fig.  Maybe this year!
