What's your favorite 2012 yellow skinned fig?

Good day and Merry Christmas!

As 2012 comes to a close, I had a pretty good abundance of figs this year.  So many stood out in flavor, taste and sweetness.  We see a lot of posts on the green figs, i.e., JH Adriatic, Strawberry Verte, Battaligia Green to name a few.  We see a lot of posts of the black figs, i.e., Black Mission NL, Kathleen Black, VdB, RdB, Maltese Falcon, Noire de Caromb to name a few.

Looking back on figs I tasted in my orchard and in containers, I had some pretty good yellow figs that will make you say.....WOW!  Those were:

Excel MJ-- Very rich and sweet....had to get get more of these!  I now have 7!
Italian Honey JM -- finally got a sweet one this year.  Bought more of these too!
White Triana JM -- sweetest fig in my orchard and in containers
Votata JM -- slow grower but mine taste similar to Excel

So, looking back on this year, what was your favorite yellow fig that made you go WOW this year?

Not expecting a reply from Martin.  He he.  Unless he wants to "walk into the light".

Desert King. So reliable and good tasting here. A fully ripen Latarrula is good too but
productivity cannot match DK.

LSU GOLD!!!

Can be cantankerous rooting but generally a good rooter and fast grower with large, dripping sweet, figgy figs.  Can attract lots of stinging insects, Bees, Wasps, Hornets, etc.  I want to try Golden Celeste this year.

Desert King.

Only had a few this season on a young plant , but Hollier was excellent.

I have a bunch of yellows, Paradiso "genes", Hollier, Tena, China White, Conadria, to name a few but the best was Cajun Gold. If you like honey figs, sweet and lightly figgy this is the one.
"gene"

Hey Paully and Joe, does your Desert King turn yellow when ripe?  Strange!  I have 2 Dks and they stay green when ripe.  I have Normans Yellow which is suppose to be the exact same as DK except its a yellow fig.  I have 3 NYs but no figs yet.  Maybe next year.  Maybe your trees are NY?  The Dks are UCD are also green when ripe.

My LSU G did well this year but the bees and wasps got most of mine and I wasn't able to compare them to others this year.

Say Kerry, I have a couple of young LSU Holliers.  They produced some nice figs but  my trees are still young.  Expecting a better crop next year.

Gene, no figs from my Cajun Gold this year.  Maybe next year.

thanks, guys!

Corky's Honey Delight and Panache - both really good this year.

Snaglpus,
What about Smith?

Smith is an LSU fig...

I kid, I kid--but the color scheme matches, though...

Not expecting a reply from Martin.  He he.

i ate a lot of bananas last year.

Oh and a whole bunch of nice ripe memorable Dark Figs.

You got your reply Babe.   ; )

I don't see Smith as yellow. It's more green and brown.

Martin, you crack me up!

Martin, I'm still laughing!

Your still cracking up....lol
Careful your gonna get a bellyache from laughing so long course your probably used to it from eating all them yellow     figs .

I had 3 yellow figs this year and the best was Unknown OC.  The other two were Desert King and Golden Celeste which were both good.

I always enjoy Jurupa a lot and my only complaint this year is that the tree hasn't been very vigorous so I didn't get many figs but they still tasted great.  The birds get a high percentage of my fruits so when there aren't many that means even less for me.  I am going to finally start fertilizing it so I can get more next year.  It seems that maybe some varieties are more demanding of nutrients (or less efficient in uptake?) than others and this might be one of them.

only had dark figs. should change next season i hope.

LSU Champagne, surprisingly sweet with a mild fig flavor. Worst was Kadota, they had very chewy tough skins which ruined the experience.

Mary Lane Seedless was excellent this year and a beautiful fig to boot.

"ATREANO"-Belleclare...ain't no chopped liver in Zone 7b-NYC short summers.  Golden-yellow when ripe.

Do birds and other critters go for the lighter skinned varieties?

None of my yellows are old enough to bear. However, I have to put in a good word for Kadota. I picked up several baskets of them at Whole Foods a month or so ago. They were awesome! A slight snappiness to the skin (not at all too thick) and gooey honey goodness inside. I want more, so badly that I am going to have to acquire cuttings or a plant before next season.

These Bg-Gold are my favorites.

My only yellow skinned fig was Peter's honey, it was very tasty. Next year hopefully my new light figs will offer a comparison.

Does Italian Golden Honey qualify.  I'm not sure how yellow, yellow figs can get.  I had a couple dehydrate on the driveway and I opened them up and scraped out the pulp and it was just like the inside of a fig newton with the right amount of seed crunch an nutty figgy flavor.  I want to try dehydrating them next year.
