What's your longest time rooting?

I have 6 Willow St cuttings (possibly Mission) that I rooted in a bag then transferred to pots back in April. The pots were placed in a 15 Gal tub with a lid to control humidity and left in the house. I occasionally watered when humidity dropped and soil felt dry but otherwise I ignored them.

And there they sat...and sat...and sat...it's been 7 months and I just happened to see a new shoot emerging from the soil of one pot this week! It stuck its head out for a couple days then shriveled up. Seven months? Good grief! I know Jon said Mission, if that's what they are, are notoriously hard to root but that's ridiculous. Five of the 6 cuttings are still firm so I'm leaving them alone.

What is the longest you've waited for a cutting to take hold and grow once potted up?

Sue, I hope there are some real patient people here who can answer that. The way I root cuttings and if they don't show roots in 2 months then they are goners anyway because of the frequent checks on them. Honestly, in my case it is a race between rooting and roting and this race does not take more than 2 months anyway. My be this year I will not try to expedite the rooting (if I get some cuttings that I am looking for).

Akram,
Mine rooted OK in the bag but once I potted them it's like they went into suspended animation for months. Took 7 months to show any life after I potted them. No leaves, no swelling nodes, nothing until last week.

Just wondering if others have been patient this long? :-)

I have one precious AdrinA & a Ruby 4 with a green tip sitting in the pot since March. I may have to disturb it to see whats happening by X'mas time.

I waited perhaps 3 - 4 months with EL Sals and  hardy chicago was also long for me, Hc rooted ok but went stagnant once potted, EL Sals took forever to root and grow once potted.
Course it could have been those particular piece of scion or me and not generally the way it would behave for me if i were to do it again.

Sue, The Point Loma cuttings from last Spring ave just started pushing the first growth all season. They each had one or two leaves, and then sat, and sat. "Civil War" is doing the same thing  finally pushing the first new wood. I did have a cutting that stayed green and viable for over a year, but never did root. It does, in general seem that the longer they take to do anything, the less vigorous they remain and the more likely a cutting it to ultimately fail.
