I'm in Pittsburgh. Still a couple weeks away at least. 

I'm curious to see where everyone is in their fig season. I figured Hardy Chicago would be a good measure since it's an early fig that's also pretty common.

Post pictures if you have 'em. It'd be cool to see the variation.

EDIT: Here's where mine stand as of five minutes ago (there are some slightly bigger ones, but the ones at the tip of this branch were the easiest to photograph and it's raining):

 

Matt, I'm in northern VA, and I'm still weeks away. I have a Breba, 1st one this year that just started to swell and change color. It's still a few days from ripening. Will post when it does.

Mine look about the same stage as yours.

I'm new to figs, but I'm at least 2 weeks away as well, the tree was started from a cutting in January.

A month ago or so.   (edit) main crop.

To be clear, it would be helpful if each person specified main crop or breba.  I'm not growing Hardy Chicago but am growing other Mt. Etna types like MvsB, SalsEL and Takoma Violet.  The main crop figs all look pretty much like the figs in post #1.  I'm expecting it to take another 2-3 weeks before they ripen.

Takoma Violet and  MvsB  main ripening here  on 7/26 and 7/27. Have an Organza Bag on a SalsEL main now.

Main crop here(Fraser Valley - British Columbia)  starts ripening anywhere from last week
Sept or before 15th Oct.

Main crop Hardy Chicago is ripening now here--in ground tree. I ate one today and there are more ripening now. Sal's EL still green. Nothing else ripe yet.

I have a 1-yr old, in ground since May. Three figs on it, not close to ripening.
Some of the "Ripening Order" threads may be additional reference data.

Here in zone 7b (2 miles from the 8a line), my HC will probably start to ripen in 2 weeks. The man at the fig orchard down the road said his HCs would start coming on in two weeks.

First year tree with two main crop figs. Still in stagnant stage.

Two in ground HC were killed to the ground with a 5F low. I'm guessing 6-8 weeks away for any ripe figs.

Could you be more precise : How old is the tree ? In pot (Head start by any means ? ) / in ground ? Are those the Brebas ? Fertilizing and watering program ? When did those figs appear ?
To be honest your tree looks a bit stressed so I would say... in pot ? ...

I don't have HC, but my first cultivar to ripe the brebas was "Dalmatie", closely followed by the "BrownTurkey", and the others in 3 weeks of time the most was done except now for some
BT coming here and then and the an unknown strain that I have that is giving between 5 and 10 figs a week on 5 trees.

@Gr8Figs: I would clean that up ! Keep 4-5 stems and remove the smaller ones to focus the nutrients on those bigger stems.
You could play rooting those little stems. To be honest, I would pull the smaller stems with my hands (don't cut with a knife) and if they are coming from the dirt, chances are some will come out already rooted ! I see lots of space for new trees... you're lucky !
If you plan to protect that tree, it is as well time for pinching the higher stems ... Lots of work for you :) !

JDS--I was just looking get a rough sense of where people were in their seasons, so I didn't think that level of detail was necessary. It's a five-year old tree in a pot. As you may have inferred from the leaf stems below the figs, these are main crop. I fertilize the tree once a week until I stop fertilizing. I water it a couple of times a day unless there's rain. No idea when the figs appeared. I'm sure the tree would be more relaxed and at peace with itself in the ground and in a better climate. It's got about 150 figs on it, which I expect to be perfectly tasty as in past years, so to be honest, I'm not super worried about it.

my hardy chicago was top killed this winter and didnt even come back until a few weeks ago. no figs this year for me from it. in years past they ripened up mid aug, a few years back when it was super hot summer i got em in late july.

In Southern California, they ripened mid to late July.  None left on the tree.  They were delicious!

The answer to your question will be extremely varied due to variations in culture, potted or in-ground and location, warm zone or cold zone.

A better question may be, How long did they take to ripen once they formed on the tree?
My HC's are nowhere near being ripe and last year they did not ripen until the beginning of September. The figs took approximately 95 days from when they were first formed, rice grain sized.

<edit> Although it may seem a bit technical, it is a simple way of determining where a grower should be in their zone.
Also, specifically if a particular cultivar can ripen in our short season zone.

Hi, just wanted to update with my HC Breba.  This was picked and eaten last night, wished I had more to eat! But the main crop won't be ripe for another 2-3 weeks.  This is an inground HC, planted this year in early summer.
