When is it best to transplant?

Hi Guys!!

Should I wait till spring or do it in the fall?
All I want to do is move it from the plastic pot
to a nice clay pot or small whiskey barrel
of equal size about 5 gal.

I just transplanted four rooted cuttings which were in a 1-litre pot in dappled sun/shade for a while. I transplanted these to 3-gallon pots and placed them in the same dappled sun/shade location for a day or two and then in full sun and all are doing fine (just like I did before these). You can transplant from pot to pot any time but with due care which include not disturbing roots too much if it is a small plant and keeping the soil moist in dappled sun/shade for a few days before exposing to full sun.

I think as long as there are 3-4 weeks left before frost, transplanting is fine.  As long as its got good root development and its leafing out fine.  I'd recommend the biggest pot you have, or at least a 2-3 gallon container, as  I think the more room the roots have, the stronger and faster it will grow.
