when you least expect it......

You find figs in your local grocery store.  In this case it was a Kroger north of Houston, TX.  The woman behind the counter went to the manager without me even asking.  She came back with a sheepish smile......the produce manager didn't know what type, where they came from or what to charge for them.  She did know they don't last long on the shelve. 

I tell you figs get no repsect.  They are the Rodney Dangerfield of the fruit world.

I'm guessing they are Black Mission and came from CA.

I agree, figs get no respect.  Wish I could find them here in the grocery store.  I've looked on and off for years and have never seen any.

Keep the faith, there was a time when you could only get Vidalia Onions for a very short time every year.  Technology and better storage methodology has allowed the storage of the onions for most of a year now, if not longer.
