Where?

I live in zoneA on the east coast of USA. I'm searching for the "Desert King Fig Tree" to plant here. Where is the best place to purchase it?

Desert King is San Pedro type fig. It means if you live in 'no-wasp' area very little fruit you will be able to produce.

Incorrect! DK will produce breba crop without Wasp. For main crop to rippens, fig wasp needed, so only produces breba.

Navid.

Yes, I've read about these trees. Just don't know where to get one...

They are a favorite variety in Seattle and are a staple in many local nurseries. I made a convenient list on my page for online nurseries and individual sellers that should be helpful to you.

If you want cuttings I should have a couple that I can send you for free.

binbin9, nice blog you have and helpful list of nurseries.

I would very much appreciate a few cuttings from you of this Desert King tree. Is this the correct time of year to send them? The weather here has been between 60 & 70 for about week already, though the nights are still around 40.  Would the cuttings have roots or would I need to dip them in a root helper of sorts and root them prior to planting?

pm me your address, I'll send you couple of cuttings to get you started.

The cuttings will not have roots. But there's about a million ways you can learn how to root them right here on this forum. It's where I learned and trialed all the various techniques. Some work better than others but you'll figure out after killing 1 or 200 what will work best for you. =)

I've rooted cutting in the dead of summer without any issue. keep them in your house where the temps are more consistent.

Very generous, Ben! I'm glad the forum has kind people like you.
