I'm doing my first trials and got some cuttings...a few in water and a few in a zip lock/wet paper towel. They are both on top of my fridge at the moment.
My question is should they be a window for some light or does it not matter?

at rooting stage, sunlight doesn't make much difference.

No light needed now. They need to be kept in the dark until they're moved up to cups and have leaves. Do it gradually.

Just be sure that it is moist and not wet paper towel

You might want to find a place that's a fairly constant temp in the 70s (*F). Be careful with baggies, though, they can really trap heat if placed above a heat source. Might want to check for the first few days and make sure they aren't cooking. Best of luck!
