Whey on Figs?

I just finished making a pot of cheese and have a gallon and a half of whey left over.  I have read about it being good for tomatoes which I don't have right now but I do have figs and blackberries.
Has anyone fed whey to their figs or blackberries?

Here is a link to one person's experience with it.

What kind of cheese are you making?  I've been toying with the idea of making my own cream cheese.  The stuff at the store has become far less than tolerable.  I prefer mine (along with yogurt) to have a tart taste.  I found a yogurt at Sprouts that is pretty good, but still not as tart as my mom used to make.  Also, how much cheese do you get from a gallon of milk?

Thanks,
~james

Hi James,

I made something that I fell in love with while visiting my daughter in Iowa, which was squeaky cheese (a white cheddar).  I had told my husband about how good it was and how funny it was to eat and hear the squeaks.  My main quest for making cheese is to make my own mozzarella though.

Interesting link you provided.  I wonder if his 2 fig trees are the same variety?  Can anyone tell?  He does not mention which type of fig and it's hard to see the leaves in the second photo.

I did see further down a response where someone was giving whey to their blackberries.

Guess I will give it a try this year on 2 identical figs and report back later.
