Which fig to plant vs. keep in a pot

I am new to the forum.  I live in Wilmington, Delaware which is Zone 7a.  Right now I have 2 potted figs - a Celeste and a Lattarula.  I have a sunny south-facing spot in front of a 4 foot wood fence - not as good as a brick wall but it's the best I have.  I figured I could grow a fig there as a dieback shrub after colder winters.

From what I understand (correct me if I am wrong), Celeste fruits primarily on new wood, making it the better choice for planting in the ground in the north because it can die back after a given winter and still produce fruit the next summer (in the late crop).  Lattarula, on the other hand, produces most of it's fruit on last year's wood - so it would be better to stay in the pot and go in my cool garage in winter.  Is the above correct about these 2 varieties??  Do you agree that Celeste would be the better variety to go in the ground?

Question number 2 - is it too late already to plant my Celeste outside now?

1. Your description of Lattaula of one crop on old wood is not correct. It is a two crop fig like Celeste but according to many sources its main crop is relatively better. However, Celeste is considered cold hardier of the two.
2. I do not believe it is too late to plant outdoor and more so in your zone.

Thanks for the reply.  But am I correct that Celeste's main crop is the second (main?) crop?

I believe so is Lattarula i.e. the 2nd crop is the main crop and not the first crop (breba).
