Which figs are you growing?

I was just wondering, why people do not write the names of figs that they are growing. Someone told me that people bother for cuttings so people don’t write the names.

I grow Syrian Saydawi, Egyptian unknown (maybe Sultani), Local unknown, and a Pakistani unknown. You can call me Mr. Unknown XP
I will be replacing the Saydawi with Beall if it arrives because it has a bad habit of dropping its figs.

To what you were told:  I do not mind being asked for cuttings.  My PM box has many messages from non-named members (those who signed up, asked for cuttings, then cancelled their account).  Also there has been a recent thread about the signature line being included in forum searches.

No personal experience, being new, but what you said makes sense, that cutting requests via PM would be overwhelming. (Like James said...)

I am growing VdB, RdB, LSU Scotts Black, Smith, Brown Turkey, Chicago Hardy, Celeste, White Triana, Black Triana, Strawberry Verte and 2 unknowns.  Addictive hobby, I started in January.  All my trees are young and I have yet to taste a single fig from them!

I haven't posted my fig inventory because I don't have anything unusual and they are mostly just started this year. But, since you asked:

Unknown Anna's (similar to Verte), Vista, Raspberry Latte, Conadria, Black Mission, Excel, Violette de Bordeaux, Kadota, Strawberry Jam, Purple Smyrna, Black Ischia, Peter's Honey, Desert King, Celeste, LSU Purple, Hardy Chicago, Alma, Brown Turkey, Troiano, Calimyrna

My first fig was from a distant in-law and is an unknown Red Greek. Sweet and lightly flavored when grown in North Jersey.
I decided early on that I would concentrate on a region. I keep figs from the south of France with a few exceptions.

Mine are all new like Phil's so too small to give cuttings.  Maybe next year and hopefully acquire a few more by then and more hopeful I can keep what I have alive over winter in the garage. :)

Growing : LSU's Purple, Tiger, Champagne, O'Rourke ~ Texas BA-1 ~ Petite Negri ~ Conadria ~ Hardy Chicago ~ Alma ~ Beall ~ Bisirri # 1 ~ Cucumber ~ Hollier ~ Smith ~ Norman's Yellow ~ Magnolia ~ Lattarula ~ Celeste ~ Kadota ~ Black Mission ~ Ischia ~ VdB ~ Panache ~ Desert King ~ Olympian ~ White Marseilles ~ Mary Lane Seedless ~ New Dan ~ One Unknown (probably VdB)

Working with green cuttings now : Verte ~ RdB ~ Sal's Corleone and expecting a few more within a day or two but unsure of varieties yet. Love surprises. :)

I got my first tree in early June, a Celeste, and since then I've added Black Mission, Hardy Chicago, VdB, Smith (member gifted), JH Adriatic and RdB. I was contacted by a nursery in July and offered Hollier which I jumped on, but received an Email from them on Sept. 9th saying they failed me. Stuff happens and I was promptly refunded, but still an ouch.

Regards,
billy

I've listed mine several times plus have them in my signature line.  My trees Are small and not ready to take cuttings from anyway, two were gifted and the other two are TC.  In addition, they are not hard to find nor expensive varieties, so I'm not worried about being solicited for cuttings that most everyone already has.

Gifted:

Sweet George and Chicago Hardy

TC:

Violet De Bordeaux

Olympian

Scott
