Which stick are you most eager to root this spring?

It's February. And one of the weirdest winters in recent memory. Except one or two sticks who pleaded with me not to be stuck in the fridge, I've been able to stay the course in not starting a new batch until I can do a more organic transition from cup to outdoors. After a few months of rigging up lights and humidity domes and all the various contraptions we concoct to get our fig sprouts through the winter, I've identified with a number of you who have committed to waiting another month or two to get going. Maybe take advantage of a more natural growth cycle.

But, sometimes I find my self pacing in front of the fridge.

Which stick is calling out to you?

One of the kind members here just sent me some Negronne cuttings, those plus my Sari Zaybek (Uzbek yellow) cutting are begging and pleading to be planted!

Maltese Falcon, but I don't have one.. lol

Of what I have on hand right now?  Sweet George.  I already have 10 varieties in the incubator.

Hi,
I have some cuttings waiting .. on the trees ... where is the pruning tool ? ok, it is ready ... and two ice crystal cuttings in the ground under a pot ...
I have no space left under my artificial light ... Which is one I share from/with the aquarium ... So I need the sun to be here ... I haven't seen a full sunny day for months. Every way is muddy.
I checked the two in ground cuttings, and they sure look healthy ... and would like to start growing.
But, I don't have the space, and if they are going to rot in April ... No way ... I'll wait ...

Sunday, I was starting removing the winter protections from the trees, and suddenly set them back ... Most of the buds look healthy ... It is no longer the time to mess them up just because of lack of patience...
I'll wait ! I saw a rotted fig against a stem, and half of the stem in thickness turned brown ... I cleaned it and ok, what is messed up is already messed up ... - that was a late growth ... because the tree got moved in April 2013.
I'll stick to the 1st march for protection removal.
My BT has two stems, one is winter protected the other not. So far, the winter protected one looks better - buds are green and no brownish painting on them .
2 weeks ... OMG ... I want a cryogenic fridge ... for me ... :)

for me, it's choice between fresh cutting or something that's been in the storage for awhile. i always choose to root right away knowing rooting in spring will be much less pain. one cutting of Bourjassote Grise that i'm trying to root. i have others that i want to see turning into trees, but right now Bourjassote Grise seems to take up lot of my time.

Negretta!  The one fig that I really want to root!  I received it from a generous member and I have only had it for 3 days.  Fingers Crossed!

It's a toss up for me between jack lily, maltese falcon, and my col de Dame noir and blanc cuttings I have. I have a lot more varieties in the fridge but those are the ones I'm looking forward to the most!

My Kathleen Blacks (4) are already potted and have 6" of new growth. Transitioning to the outdoor (shaded) weather this weekend. we are expecting mid to high 80's this week.
Dominick's figs (7) are not far behind, potted up but waiting for some good growth before they go outside.
My Black Triana's all molded. I think I lost them all. They were nice cuttings too. Boo.

I have one or two cuttings of Valle Negra I will be pruning and rooting next month.  I want 2-3 backups of this gem.

I'm with you, Frank.  I have requested Valle Negra (along with Florea and Macool) from Jon during the great annual fig migration.  I, also, have a few other varieties from other sources.  I am excited to try all of them.

Ordered a Raspberry Latte after reading the description and can't wait.
Same for Old Brooklyn Italian.
Really want to start Acciano, but can't seem to get there after several tries. (Don't tell Mario. I will be so embarrassed.)

Am really anxious to try Col de Dame Blanc and Noir. Rooting starts later this week. If I get lucky, later in a month or so, maybe Adriatic JH!
