Hi Everyone, I have a supposed White Genoa. It came from Dave Wilson Nursery and still has the tag on it. It is not what I was expecting. I was expecting the flesh to have more of a red/amber color to it. Also the figs darken before they soften up. Here are some pictures The flavor is nice enough, but it does not really float my boat. They are sweet and subtle, and ... well ... not much else. Does anyone who has a White Genoa chime in and let me know if you think this could indeed be a White Genoa? Thanks, Dan

Thanks! I figured but wanted to make sure. Having mixed luck getting started in figs. I started with three trees from Dave Wilson Nursery purchased a local farm store. The White Genoa ... well you know. My Violet De Bordeaux is actually awesome! My Panache seems to be a Reverse. It tastes super and I am stoked about that, but no cool stripes. I don't suppose the fig in the picture has any distinguishing characteristic that would allow anyone to ID it, but if anyone has any guesses I am all ears.

Actually, I am thinking Osborne Prolific? I went to the Dave Wilson website and looked at the figs they sell. The Osborne Prolific looks awfully similar to what I have.

I bet your Panachee is the White Genoa. Reverse Panachee exist but they are rare.

HaHa now wouldn't that be funny? I will post a couple of pictures of it tonight and people can help decide because clearly I have no idea what I am doing.

Hmm, think so? Most of the pictures I am seeing of White Genoa seem rounder with a stem. This fig seems to have more of a tapered neck. Here I grabbed some pictures of White Genoa and Panache from this website and pasted them into my other pictures. The bottom picture only has my fig and two Panache. Shape wise I think my fig looks more similar to Panache. But I will be the first to admit I have no idea what it really is. I want it to be a Reverse more that I want it to be White Genoa. I may have to get another Panache and White Genoa and grow them until I get some figs from the new trees to know for sure. Kind of a bummer to have to grow them again. I have some Adriatic JH cuttings coming and am looking for some Col De Dames. Sure hope they are actually what they say they are!

One for, and one against. I will probably add another Panache to the collection for the cool stripes and then taste them side by side. I will let you know in a few years if it is a Panache or not. Thanks for the input, Dan

Panachee can be all green (Reverse, Reverted Panachee, etc.) more frequently than you think. The good news is that it really doesn't affect the flavor, just doesn't have the pretty stripes. You WG does look like OP.
