White Kadota Scions ... for you?

So I was chatting with a neighbor from well enough down the road about various gardening topics (weather, SSE, crops and such,) when I mentioned my Fig interests. He asked me if I wanted cuttings from his White Kadota, well yes please!

His tree, a bit un-tended for a few years, is absolutely huge and the biggest I’ve seen. While taking my scions I asked if he had listed the WK in the SSE Yearbook and he admitted it had slipped his mind. Our luck, he graciously offered all the cuttings I could dispose of, as well, it would be fine if I used some for trades.

In the next week or so I will go collect the scions in bulk and store them as Jon demonstrates.

I like to give my cuttings a dip in 10% bleach as a vague nod to sanitation. Let me know if you want yours untreated.

Nitty gritty, I only have five fig cultivars in my collection at this time. Tempt me with your favorite.

If you have a variety I would like to trade for then we can work out the specifics. Trades sent first will receive priority as I will be able to return your WK cuttings in your box.

Yes you can have some without a trade. That’s the best part, plenty of wood to go around.

Just let me know you are interested and I’ll send along my address, thus you can provide a suitable mailing envelope or box with return postage to you. (My guess about $2.75 ?, what do you think?)

And most of all, thanks to you folks of the Figs4Fun forum for the information and fellowship I find here.

Brian

With cuttings 7-8" long, you can put them in one of the priority boxes from the PO (the  boxes are free) - and for a few cuttings $4 and change anywhere in the US to ship them. I used piles of these boxes last year sending SSE requests. They are about 1-1/2 x 5 x 8.
