White Russian

These figs tasted jammy, little crunchy, sweet, with a little honey and figgy flavor. Their flavors were similar to Peter's Honey. The skins were smooth and shiny and the skins had chewy textures. The eyes were sealed with dried honey. This tree has been growing in the ground without winter protection in zone 7a for 3 years now. It produces very good tasting figs.

Figs from Russia?!
Amazing...
Next one will be from Alaska, USA...

I also have a Russian fig. I was told it came from around the Black Sea but that was it. Maybe it will have fruit next year. It grew very quickly for me this year.

Looks very tasty.  Thanks for sharing the pics.

Yup, looks yummy!

Thank you to everyone. I was told that White Russian is very cold hardy. They produce a lot of figs too. When the weather is dry, they do not have open eyes.

Tam

Hello. I'm new, I want to introduce myself.Vlad I of Russia , Tuapse city , west of the city of Sochi 130 km . This subtropical climate zone . It is located on the Black Sea coast . I grow figs, persimmons east , Kiwi Hayward , hardy citrus , pomegranate , olive, myrtle . Some cultures are young and not yet bear fruit . In our subtropical figs are grown all groups , including the group " myrrh ." We live blastofaga wasp that pollinates figs all groups.
FIG quality is very high. Seedlings, cuttings in our gardens come from Yalta , NBS , where Soviet scientists was
a collection of 350 varieties. You can read about in the book " Varieties of figs " , volume 263 issue stranitsy.God 1975 .

Hi Vlad,

Welcome to the forum.
I would suggest to start a new thread to introduce yourself, there are a lot of nice people here who would want to say hi!

I'm curious to see on color photos figs, gardeners who grow in different countries. I compare photos figs, leaves that I see here and the ones that grow in Russia.

Quote

The varieties that you have there and we have here may have different names although be the same varieties. It is a tricky business comparing the figs and leaves but good luck with that!

Also, use the search option at the top right, you may find a lot things you are looking for.

From my garden a beautiful sea view. Subtropical plants grow narrow strip of 3 - 5 km from the sea.
