So I gave away some cuttings to coworkers and one of them developed white spots.  Any idea what this is?  Haven't seen it before.  

 

Lime or fertilizer burn? Looks like it was caused by something placed or splashed onto the plant.

sun burn. nothing to worry about.

Sun burn. They get increasingly ratty and brown, but new growth will be fine.

How old is that small tree ? Which strain (Supposed to grow fast or slow ) ?
It looks like the older leaf is exposing the more stains - so just aging for me, I wouldn't worry,
except for knowing how fast that tree is growing .

Perhaps that tree is held in a too shadowy spot ... with too much or not enough water and the same for fertilizer ... You can't know from a photo as the symptoms are the same .

from pix, it looks like a newly rooted cuttings. maybe few months old. 

i on purpose let me figs get sunburn. 1) i'm lazy, 2) less time for me to fuzz over what will happen of i move them around. 

here are two of my newly rooted cuttings. Maltese Beauty and Kathleen's Black. you will notice that they have put on the new leave and the new leaves are darker and little thicker. they handle the sun better also. you will notice on Kathleen's Black same white spots as your tree. older leaves were dropped already. some will stick around till the late fall. i expect more to drop. but you will also notice buds are opening and putting out more new leaves.

Sunburn definitely makes sense because the plants had only know the inside of my house and grow lamps up until I gave them away.  I told my coworkers not to worry.  Thanks much all.
