All of a sudden I have gotten white spots on my fig leafs. It's like a white ash. More on my Chicago hardy than my Dark Portugese. Is this a problem?Vince z/5
A pix would really help. Doesn't sound normal.
pitangadiegI have the picture but i'm not sure i know how to attach it.I took it this morning. We live on a river so we do get a lot of dew in the morning. I have many fruit trees and do not get this on them.Vince z/5

Vince,i can see the spots your talking about yes. I dont know what that is.I wonder if those spots are left when the little rain drops dry or some sort of reaction with the leaves. Do you see similar spotting on any other garden plants after morning dew or rain drops dry?
Now that the leaves have dried this is what it looks like.I have apple trees right next to them and they don't have them. This has just showed up in the last few days. I also have peaches ,plums cherries and pears and they don't have it.Vince z/5
I concur with what Martin first suggested. It is some kind of a white residue of some kind...Did you spread any (soil PH correcting) lime,or spray some (insecticide) e.g., Sevin,or anything else lately?
Could be salt/mineral residue from irrigation/sprinkler from what I can tell. Does it just wash off with a water spray?
It is not on the under side of the leaves. I do not spray. I did not add anything to the soil. 2 years ago I put it in a soil of 1/3 pine bark mini nuggets 1/3 Perlite and 1/3 MG potting soil. I have not added anything but water. It willrub off to a milky substance with a little effort. Vince z/5
