Pete,i am using the cheapest mixture...black soil from the woods and 30% aged horse manure mixed with rabbit and chicken pooh from a farm near me.On 32 gal pot or bigger,i'm changing the soil every 2 years and i'm watering my plants from a small creek behind my house. Very simple!!

Wow Marius sounds better than the $10 bags of potting mix I buy from Home Depot!
