Who could I be?

Attached are photos of a cutting I rooted in the fall from a forum member (thanks). It was thought to be a King or Desert King by other members based upon its fruit that has a pink to red pulp and a yellow-green skin. Now that my cutting is putting out some mature full-size leaves, I have my doubts. The F4F variety pages do not match the leaves in the pictures at all - so it may be something else all together. In the pics you can see that all the leaves are single-lobed and heart-shaped. It's growth habit is also showing a very tight internodal spacing (if that helps). I know this is not much to go on, but any ideas?

Ciao Steve,  I have never seen so many of these heart leaves on a fig at first, but it is not uncommon for these heart shaped leaves to come out first then the more prominent Permanent ones will pop out later.  Many of my varieties start these types of leaves then the various varietal shapes start coming.  But it is different seeing so many of these.  I don't know why it comes to my mind, and please tell me if I'm wrong,  Doesn't the Wuhan fig have kinda heart shaped leaves as the mature and dominent?  Anyway, you probably have what you wanted, just alot of those puberty leaves coming out as my father used to call them, they are not the true expression of the variety or the mature leaves.  Just Puberty leaves.  Hope I can say that word here.  Ciao

Hi Steve,
A very picture perfect new fig rooting indeed (beautiful leaves).
My congrads!
I cannot help with the ID.
But do keep in mind, that initial fig-leaf shapes on very young
fig plants do tend to vary a lot and tend to be (somewhat) mis-leading.

Thanks for the feedback. They might be juvenile (better word) leaves but they are pretty big already and they are also present on the "mother" tree.

Gorgi - thanks, it is a nice looking plant but it sure is a slow grower when compared to others. It is maybe 6-8" high when other varieites started after it are 2.5-3 feet tall already.

Maggie - Thanks, I'll check out the Wuhan.

Steve,

    What's the verdict?

That sure is unusual to see all those leaves and no fingers. I was given a start of Nero 600 with similar leaves, yet anyone familiar with that variety knows the mature leaves are very ornate, with deep fingers. This year I am seeing the typical leaf shape for Nero 600. I'd wait til next year to see what your new start does.

That is a healthy young tree. Thanks for sharing.

Best,
Tam

Isn't DFIC 0023 reported to have this style of leaf?
