Who have you already met?

I have met Adriano & Dusan Radovan on Gardenweb personally. Via Email I have spoke with a few members Paully,Akram,Mario, Sue V., Leon, Phil k, Byron, Bass, Herman & Jon & a few others I cant remember right now.

I have met Bass 3 times great guy, Jenia twice very nice lady, and Paul (PM) twice also.  I have to say they are 3 FIG NUTS!  Also fignewton is a friend of mine here from Long Island.

I have mentioned about a fig reunion for all of us before, that would be very neat I think.  I have spoken to a few people on the phone and alot of private emailing for many different reasons, Not met anyone face to face yet.  I was told I speak very similar to Gorgi, never spoke to him so don't know. Must be because foreign born, I never thought I retained the accent, but almost everyone notices it, I always am asked if I am spanish?  I would like to meet everyone one day.

I REALLY like the fig summit idea.

Bass has nixed prime fig season as the time and has suggeseted a garden location (that is sensible since probably very few want a hoard of marauding figheads loose in their fig patch).  Anyone have any more specific ideas for a date and location?  May?  June?  NJ?  PA?  NY?  Brooklyn Botanical Garden?  Central Park? New Jersey Botanical Garden?  Other?

It's too bad we can't meet at UCDs fig orchard in Aug/Sept and "research" their figs. ;-) On second thought...

Sue

Maggie, not sure gorgi will be excited to hear that he sounds like a girl.

Jon,  I was told it was the way we talk, not the way he sounds.

Ciao Maggie,
Jon has a way about him ( good way ) when he reads a paragraph he can find something and make it humorous which is nice in this day an age, i sometimes do similar but not even close to Jon.
Speaking of voice my wife who was born in Spain has a heavy accent similar to the movie actress whats her name from there i always tease her when she say mayor and she says MaJor instead but its a nice tease.
My dad had very heavy accent being from Italy.
Parents always called me Marteen which you know of course is the italian way of my name , the misses does sometimes as well.
Friends and neighbors call me Marty.

Ciao Martin, I know it was jon just teasing,  Who knows, maybe I sound like a man??? :)  no I don't think so. I don't think I have the accent anymore as I was young, but everyone picks it out.  When I really want to sound like a yank, I can just like everyone else, but I am not always on top of it and slip back. Yes, I would pronounce your name as Marteen as well.  When I have a couple glasses of wine, noone understands me, Husband always asks me what did you say?  Also, when I am mad, even I can hear how it comes out much thicker and I speak really really fast then. Oh well.  Ciao!

I thought about that, Maggie, but was giving you the benefit of the doubt.

I've met Rob (who frequently lurks, but I haven't seen post in a month or so) as well as the infamous Zergas.

I plan on meeting with Rafed by this summer at the latest, if he can stay still long enough at home for us to plan something.

That being said, I truly count many of you as kindred spirits and friends in the truest sense of the word and would split my last fig with any of ya (as long as the wife didn't see it first....lol)

Very funny!
I think that what Maggie meant, was that we both (tend),
to speak our minds, brief and straight to the point (maybe?)...

gorgi, I assumed that you both talked like fereners.

So far I've met Jon, picking up a fig tree last April [when I was back in my hometown of SD visiting my parents].

As it turns out, Jon lives around the corner from the childhood home of a high school buddy [whose mom still lives there].

Chills,

I was planning on inviting you and Al this summer to see the garden when everything is in full bloom.
That way you and Al can declare me the winner of the bragging rights ( LOL ).

We can meet before then if you like.

I've been to all 3 NE Fig meetings so I can't recall them all, Bass, George (Gorgi) Ric (Jazzbass) Dan (Celt) Al (NeNewbie), Al's dad,  Vito, Vito's buddies, Marcus (somethingGTO?), Jason (7Deuce), Bill (Bill's figs), Herman, Ed (Ep3) Debbie, (Debbies'Cockatiel?), Lou, Luke (Lukeott), Tim (Slingha), phone with Rafed and I'm  certain I missed a few more. There were a couple at the first meeting that I haven't seen since for sure.

Hi all,
Newbie just getting started with cuttings and one 10 yr old tree brought from Florida to Northeast Texas.  I have been a real lover of figs most of my life and have really enjoyed the pursuit of cuttings from mature, what I call legacy trees.

Would love a get together in the ARK-LA-TEX area

I've met a few people (some active, some not) from this and the GW forum.  About in order: YaddaYadda, Georgi, Bass, Mountain Man, LosLunasFarm, Jeseyphresh (lives next door to my ex wife).  I haven't had an experience, yet that was any less than wonderful.

I don't know why the symposium has to be a single day event.  Why not start in the south and follow the trail of ripening figs?

I've only met 2 very nice members in person, Tonycm and Bugs. I've talked to Phil Kobal"from Ohio" on the phone multiple times. I hope to visit him this summer. I can't wait until the North East fig meeting this spring. Will be nice to meet more of the members. There are others that I may never meet due to location. But it is nice to keep in touch via e-mail or PM. You know who you are.

I've talked with so many forum members via email and PM, all great people. So far, I have only met Fredfig in person. He and I are getting together this weekend for a cutting and plant swap. Looking forward to it.

I've met John (springlakenj) while he was doing a great deed in caring for and transporting some trees that Luke (Lukeott) was generous enough to offer. I also met Ed (EJP3) while doing some business for some very nice trees. Everyone I've met has been very gracious and full of info.

In my short time on this forum I had the pleasure of meeting Jason (satellitehead) a few weeks ago. Jason was generous and had
a few moments  for questions. He was preparing for his toddlers birthday and had a bunch of stuff to do.

I would like to see the members in the Atlanta area get together to do the "fig talk" in the future and maybe just have coffee or lunch.

Any takers?

Sounds like a plan. Maybe we could combine it with a cutting or young tree swap... I've got that Sal's EL you are looking for.  I haven't met anyone on the forum personally, but all have been great people in trades.

Scott
