I had the pleasure of meeting Strudeldog today. We met up in Jasper, Ga. and swapped a few fig cuttings. He also hooked me up
with PapPaw cuttings. Very nice and generous gentleman.

Met a lot of good people at the Louisiana Fig Fest last year, I'm sure I will forget some bot met Gene, Noss Jstall, James, Landscapewitch, cajunB(Brian), Dan, Bobby, James Robin, Durio Nursery, all the wives and husbands, please forgive an old man if I forgot anyone.

THE BIG FIG GIG, CENTRAL

CALLING ALL FIGGERS FROM TEXAS, OKLAHOMA, ARKANSAS, OKLAHOMA, AND ALL OTHER AREAS

I am trying to put together a get together in North Texas for late summer or late fall, 1 day maybe 2.

I have had preliminary discussions with the city and it looks good.  Planning guest speakers, 2 classes, judged fig show, fig drink contest, fig recipe contest, cutting/tree swap/sale, trying to get vendors for an ag trade show.  Will be held in conjunction with other events for the non-figgers.  ARRANGEMENTS ARE IN DISCUSSION FOR OVERNIGHT DISCOUNTED ACCOMMODATIONS.

This is a good thing, if we can get regional interest we may be able to have a national event, have to start somewhere.

ANY ATTENDANCE OR HELP IN SETTING THIS UP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Mike,
The pleasure was mine and enjoyed the visit and the exchange. There is enough of us around Atlanta we should have a gathering at some point, but we will not invite the Kudzu beetles. I hope they don't bother Figs or I am in trouble.

I had the pleasure of meeting a super nice forum member today, Eden (eden13). I drove 70 miles up to his house and he has quiet
a lay out. I thought I had a few figs. We had good conversation and of course exchanged some figs. Needless to say, I brought
home more than I took.

Mike, I also met Eden. He was kind enough to drop by on his way back home from vacationing in Destin last week. Couldn't stay long, but we had a good old time touring the fig orchard and chewing the fat. Fig people are the best!

That makes a total of around 6 or 7 forum members I've had the good fortune to meet.

I had the pleasure meet Bob (luak) and his wonderful wife.
Had  a VERY nice time looking at his figs, paw paws, and persimmons.
He was kind enough to let me taste a breba Negronne that he found ripe as we were walking around.

That makes 2 members I have met in person, countless have helped and offered advice via email or PM and seveal have offered cuttings or "figlets".
Wonderful people make up this community. I look forward to when I am in a position to "pay it forward" and pass on some of my cuttings and knowledge (will take a lot longer on the latter)
Greg

I had the privilege to meet two more of our fine forum members today. Tamarness and Savage270 paid me a visit today and what
two fine individuals they are. I hope to see them again possibly at the fig gathering on August 23rd at GRamaley's in Ft. Mills, S.C.
It is great to be able to put a face with a person's post.

Recently I had the unbelievable pleasure in meeting awesome local forum members :)

Mike in Newnan: what a wonderful guy :) if his kindness could be comparable to something I'd say he is a refreshing glass of sweet iced tea on a super hot and sunny day! His kindness and generosity and even uplifting advise has no bounds. Also, have never seen so many varieties all in one place before and to make it all a plus, he has tied growing figs into his landscaping. He has a beautiful yard accented with healthy growing fig varieties in every corner of the yard :) I also had the pleasure to meet his lovely sweet wife that has the most amazing smile. It was a Saturday I'll never forget!

Goss in Canton: I has the pleasure of meeting this great man one rainy evening. They say, after each rain storm there is a rainbow and at the end of the rainbow there's a pot of gold; that is exactly what I found after meeting Goss. He was the first member I have met from this forum and he shared so much of his knowledge from rooting and the processes involved to eventual pinching techniques. I left there with more than just figs; I left there with priceless lifelong knowledge.

Tamar in Atlanta: She is the kindest girl I have ever met. From the moment I pulled into her driveway seeing her water her fig plants and the car ride to and from visiting Mike to the end of the afternoon coming back to her place for a tour of her garden, she had been a pleasure to spend time with. She suggested that my soil is too wet and that my plants probably isn't showing new growth because it's still putting bout roots from my recent up potting. She is so knowledgable and it was an honor to pick her brain with my endless questions. All in all, she was the perfect company to share a car ride and ultimately a fantastic fig day :)
