WHO SELL ME FIG PLANTS, CUTS, SEEDS OR VEGETAL MATERIAL

Hello everybody.

I am new in this board, I am from Mexico.

I am interested into buy plants, cuts, seeds, or vegetal material for propagating. I have to establish 2500 acres in Mexico for my company. AGRANA FRUIT.

The problem is that in Mexico just we have mission variety and I need another options, I would like test some types or varieties of Ficus carica. But I have not found anything for getting my millions of plants. 600-700 plants/acre.

In USA only I have found comercial nurseries where sale fig trees, however I need to get 2 millions plants and is impossible to pay 30-40 dlls per tree, also the transport is not possible.

Please if you have options for me, please te me know. Also I am interest into buy Dry Fig, any type, any amount, any size is for paste, Just tell me how much cost? and where do you have the Dried Figs.

Thanks a lot.

Best Regards.

If you need to grow so many fig trees I would suggest to start them as cuttings in the ground. We have several people on this forums that will sell you cuttings. I would suggest to do research on how to start the cuttings directly in the ground.
In the Mediterranean many orchards are started from cuttings in the ground.

Thanks Bass.

I have ready all the information to start planting cuts in the ground, just I have looking if there is an other cheaper option, because if there is my only option, I will have to buy a entire long truck for bring the plants to Mexico, that I might to do if this is the only way.

I will apreciate if you can tell who could sell me at least 1 500 cuts at the coming weeks.

Thanks, Regards.

I am doubtful if anyone is going to be able to supply you so many cuttings. However, I have a few suggestions. What you could so is order half of the trees at 30 to 40$ then take cuttings from them. Also order some cuttings from a few people on this forum. You will probably not get the 1500 cuttings but it will be a good start. Keep in mind that not all varieties are suitable to bear fruits that will survive an extended period of time once they are picked.

Also, keep in mind it will take some time before the fig trees are going to be able to bear figs that are of sufficient quantity to be financially viable. During the first 4 years you can probably forget about selling anything on a commercial scale.

The owner of this forum is also selling cuttings…

Dear Montreal Fig.

Thanks for your comments. I have had in mind the figs trees can be financially viable after some years, meanwhile, only I will have just a few figs.

About buy some trees, also is an option, however I have all ready 2000 acres for planting and I dont have the enough time for starting to produce cuttings and after that, start to planting, I need to plant as soon as posible.

I will ask to the company if they think viable the option of buying trees.

Thanks.
Regards.

Marco,
if you can find a WHOLESALE supplier that actually supplies plants such as figs to the nursery's that sell them at the retail level they may be able to supply you with such a large number of small plants at a reduced price.
You will be cutting out the middle man ( retailer )  and dealing with the large supplier ( wholesaler ) if there is such one for fig plants.

Marco,
Here is a link you might check out, they have a nursery in Corpus Christi TX
