Who to ask?

Hi all;
It has been a while sense I wrote the forum.  I am still new to Fig collecting.  Have about 14 types now. Started last fall getting several I thought would be nice here in Arizona.  It has been a learning experience.  Everyone has been so nice and helpful.

Most of the figs I currently have are  from Italy, France, Spain and USA.  I would like to know if anyone has a point of contact for me, so I can obtain some from the middle east area.  Would like to get a  few from around Israel and east. Also if anyone has any suggestions for figs from that area that would be nice here in Arizona... It is about 110 degrees here now.

Well, thanks for any info as always. Thanks also to the wonderful people that have helped me out so far!

Hi.  I have been growing figs in Arizona since last year.  There are several long time forum members who are in Arizona.  Hopefully some of them will chime in.  You can also check on the other forum.

So far I have found my best growers to be Desert King, Violette de Bordeaux, LSU Purple, Black Madeira, Joe's Jersey (my unknown), and Hardy Chicago.  Even Barnisotte seems to like it here.  All of these figs have continued to grow in the heat.  Most are growing figs.  Other varieties have not done as well for me so far.  Not sure if they just need more time.

Hi Mark, Good to see your post, and hope your trees got some of today's rain. Bass would be a good resource for Middle Eastern figs--check out this page from his website:

hey mark

i had written a friend in israel to see if he can help....if i manage to get my hands on some cuttings i will let you and the others know

I hope you get what you are seeking for your collection. There are a few things I guess you don't have to worry too much about (like others in the north and north-east); late frost in spring, short summers, less heat, early frost in fall and unripe figs at the end of the season.
Good luck with figs.
