Hey all,
This is an attempt to jog some memories from a few months ago...
It seems as if people encountered the following varieties at Whole Foods markets on the east coast:
Hardy Chicago, LSU Purple, Celeste, Brown Turkey, Black Mission and Black Spanish.
I personally "speculated" on a couple of nice-sized fruit-bearing trees that were labeled LSU Purple but didn't have the right leaf shapes to be LSU Purple. One of them turned out to be a nice green fig. None of the varieties listed above are green.
Did anyone see any figs labeled as a variety other than what is listed above?
If it helps, the various trees I got were labeled as having been grown by CBF. I have a vague memory of having researched and found what grower/nursery CBF might be, but I cannot find it now. I'm just hoping to get a hint of an ID before I try to identify this Unk Green based on fig and leaf shape.
Cheers,
Jim
