Once you delete an image from photo bucket it deletes it here on forum unless you resize under 1 meg and when posting on bottom of the post message page click on " management attachments" its in blue font.

The way i resize in photobucket is once i upload a regular pitcure to it ( 800 x 600 ) size and it shows in photobucket i click it then it opens in another window then i right click it and save to harddrive is now around 932kb just under 1 meg and you can then go to post message and in that post message window bottom left corner click " Message Attachments" and find it on your hard drive click upload and it appears as thumbnail.
After i did this a couple times it became easier.
Course i have to admit my daughter showed me how without her
forget about it!!!

It looks like rust to me. Rust is a fungal infection that attacks the leaves of fig trees. The best treatment is supposed to be a copper spray.

Hmmm, and fungal infection happens because of too much moisture, right? At one time I was watering 3x a week. I've since cut back to 1/week. Maybe that's why the new leaves at the tip of the branches show healthy green leaves. Where can I get the copper spray?

You didn't mention your location.

Rust is a possibility, but as I understand it, it is caused by rain and humidity, and generally an issue in the south. If that is the situation, then treatment is definitely the correct course of action.

Could be underwatering and/or overheating with low humidity are some point in the past. As long as new growth is healthy, past water issues are not an issue now. If figs get stressed, they will shed leaves, but the plant will be fine. We had 100+ temps a week ago, with 10% humidity. Trees shed leaves, had yellowing leaves, brown spotted leaves, crispied leaves all over the place, but they are fine.

Doesnt look like rust to me.  Rust usually occurs all over the leaf (little spots before progressing to big spots).  Looks like the leaves on the edges are curling which reminds me more of sunburn more than rust but doesn't look quite the same.  This past spring we had 3-4 weeks of mostly cloudy weather than 2 weeks of clear blue skies towards the solstice.  That crisped the leaves of some of my trees and even a few dog woods in my neighborhood.

Ah good to see picture, like some have said and i agree that is not rust but it is sunburn. Rust is a lot of small brown freckle like dotting on leaves
One year in late september we had record rainfall of 9 inches over a weekend combined with cool weather and the high humidity my trees developed rust even in my zone.
Luckily tree were mostly spent of ripe figs, i took lots of them off and following growing season they were back to normal.
Yours appear to have gotten crispy by a sudden hot sun.

Thanks guys. Then sunburn is a much more likely reason. I'm in Bakersfield, CA Zone 9. Very hot and dry in the summer. I built a shade canopy for each of my fruit trees. Good to see new growth with healthy leaves.
