so strange, this is happening with several of my trees that have opened shoots in the basement.

Are they growing toward a light source?

no, it's out side.  in full sun.

Ditto for me. Light source was above in the basement and now in full sun. I am noticing clusters of shoots growing horizontally at the terminal bud, several trees.

Could it be insect damage from something like red mites causing that ?

I once had a young Tashkent  fig (1-2 year old) that did an almost

~1" diameter complete 360* loop going into a 'knot'!
It was a severe case of FMV.....

(Being funny):
Heck, maybe your BM is pointing to a site where she wants to be  planted?
Or maybe she is pointing to some hidden gold treasure....

Is the 'top' side of the new growth, by any chance damaged?
You can  tell if there are some 'brownish' streaks.
If so, it could have been a  (somehow) physical damage at the original bud.
Constrict one-side and twig tends to grow towards the 'opposite-other'  better side...

The tip is not damaged, and if it's pointing at a hidden treasure, it's too late, i just put cement in the area lol

Well, just to follow up - I tied my issue back to mites.  This became apparent when the petals on either side of the apical bud broke and i started seeing spider webs.  One trip outside and a solid spraydown fixed that situation.

I showed pictures in the past similar to gorgi with a small limb doing a 360 i think i left it on plant i would have to look.
