I'm in zone 7a, Maryland, and I have 3 trees that I bought 1 month ago.  A Celeste, Chicago Hardy, and Brown Turkey.  The biggest one is Chicago Hardy at about 4ft.  The other 2 are about 3ft and they have tiny figs on them.  The Chicago Hardy has nothing but the beginnings of leaves.  I was wondering why my biggest plant didn't have any figs.  I thought maybe Chicago Hardy didn't give brebas, but in my research I found that they do.  What would cause a tree not to give brebas?

My Chicago Hardy is just now waking up and starting to put out leaves.  It is still early yet.

I have a three year old CH with lots of leaves on it but no brebas.

Maybe Chicago Hardy focuses on growing during the early part of its life?

I have a couple Hardy Chicago's and 1 of them has about 10 brebas and the other has just a couple.

Out of the 5 Hardy Chicago trees in pots, 3 have breba on them. I have one planted in ground and so far there is no breba showing. It might be just like any fruit bearing trees, some years you get tons of fruit, while other years you're lucky to get a few dozen.

Don't feel bad about your Hardy Chicago.  I have 6 fig trees and one tree is 7 feet tall and all 6 trees have never produced a fig...   My H. Chicago is fully leafed out and has grown about 4 inches thus far.  I say your batting average is pretty good with 2 out of three showing results.

Man, rhopkins, that's pretty discouraging.  What's wrong with those trees?  At 7ft you'd think it would have given you something if it was every going to.  What keeps you going when none of your trees give you any fruit?

Hardy Chicago is not known for its brebas, when they do produce, it is only a light crop.

Thearabicstudent here is 2 Hardy Chicago breba i let ripen from 2009 and 1 from 2010.
