Will last year's figs ripen?

My VDB fig went into the garage last fall with some unripe figs that hung on through the winter. (I am in zone 5/6, depending on which zone map you believe.) This spring when I brought the fig outside, some of those figs fell off, but some hung on. Will they ripen?
I am attempting to attach a picture, my very first attempt with my digital camera.

Still hoping for an answer to this question. I don't want to leave the figs on the plant if they will not be any good, but don't want to just remove them without knowing the answer! They are still hanging on, and the plant seems to be growing well. Please help!

I can't say whether they will ripen or not, but if it were my tree I would certainly leave them on and find out!

Leave them on, they are breba figs so they might not taste as good as the main croppers.................But it looks like they will ripen just fine!

AnnieBee,

Apparently there are fig trees that will carry over main crop figs over the Winter and ripen them the next Spring. Yours appears to be one. Leave them on and let the tree do its thing. You will likely be glad you did. Good luck!

Hi AnnieBee,

Your Violet de Bordeaux "Main Crop" figs left over from last season will not ripen as has been my experience over the years with this type and others
in same zone as yours.

I had the same experience with my Tarantella.

Two were left on from last year. Gave them about 2 weeks. No swelling. Picked them off

Same with my Paradiso ( Brunswick).

I had 3 large ones on my Black Triana from Last year that I ripped off (literally).

I'm not giving you any suggestions. Just giving you my experience with something similar.

If it was me, I would give it a chance to change appearance and swell. If no change just pick off. No harm, No foul.

All good, thank you! I think that they may not ripen, or may not be good, based on what's been said. But I can't bring myself to remove them just yet. They do look so promising! Will update if anything happens with them.

I don't think this is normal, but we had a mild winter. See Conadria
