Seems like I've been waiting forever for my Peter's honey to ripen here in the Seattle area. The figs seem to have been in the same state for the last 2 months. Will Peter's Honey ripen in Seattle? 5/15/15 Day of purchase from a local nursery 7/20/15 Yesterday. I planted it in ground. Good or bad idea?

Hey there, it looks healthy enough. I thought the same thing too about my figs. It seemed as if they were just stagnating, not getting any bigger or showing any signs of ripening. However, they are now starting to ripen. I think your fruits will start to ripen. If September comes and still no progress, then I'd start to worry. I'm weary of planting fig trees as they are actively growing due to the risk of transplant shock, but then again I'm in a semi-arid climate where the dirt is rock hard and dry during the growing season. Just keep an eye on it and it should do well in your Seattle climate. Best of luck! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Dan, They do look a bit more plump compered to a couple of months ago. From what I've read I thought PH has brebas and a main crop. And that the brebas should ripen July?

Yes PH has a breba and a main crop. The brebas should ripen in July under normal growing conditions; however, a nursery bought, potted fruit tree is seldom kept under "normal growing conditions." I would expect a few late, mediocre fruits this year, and a significant increase in production and quality next year.

Pulled off my first Peter's Honey yesterday. Is it generally this small? The taste lived up to the name. Super sweet honey like jam. Tough skin with a hint of honey dew. The overall flavor was just more sweet than anything else.

We're still getting 90 degree weather here in Seattle. A few more ripened PHs.

They look so good! And a greenish fig too. Have the birds left it alone? When I passed by a fig tree near the airport it sounded like a flock of birds were squabbling in it, but the loaded DK near where I live has seemingly been left alone by the birds. So I'm starting to lean towards figs more green and yellow.
