Winter Air Layers

Has anyone ever air layered plants in storage? Will they root? Will the cold kill the roots. Will it rob the plant of energy to make roots. I know the plant is asleep so to speak, but would think it would root to look for more energy. Also would there be a better time while in storage, when first put away or say March. I will run a few tests this winter, but wonder if it has been done before.

Do it anyway

I am told roots will continue to develop until root area is lower than 45 dg F.  I have just started 3 air layers, I don't know, we'll see.

Where are you located?

If you do try, do not girdle the limb.  Many years ago we had a freak freeze in Houston while I had air layers on the tree.  The three limbs with girdles died off above the cut, while the other limbs did not.
