Winter fig wrap

I'm testing out a new product for protecting the fig from the cold. this large insulating bag.
Pruned my tree down to 3-4 main leaders. Tied them up. Wrapped it with a thick material, placed some moth balls (to keep mice out). It fits it perfectly. I will see how well it worked out by spring.

It looks like it was made for it!  Looking forward to the results.

Hi Bass,
Nice. Keep us posted :) .

I would have put a stake and the bag on the stake so that the terminal buds don't get damaged by frost and ice accumulating on the surface of the bag.
The base is perhaps less protected and wind while blowing will push the bag unprotecting that zone. Or did you screw the bag to the dirt ?
Here I would have tied the bag to the tree with some electrical cable (those ones that are used in the walls of the houses) or with Wind you would find the bags on the ground at some distance from the tree .
Do those exist in dark color ? , for getting a bit more of heat from the sunrays.
Good luck !
Tomorrow, here, I will continue to install the dark trashcans for the same purposes ... Although we still haven't seen any frost this year ... weird ...

Cool bird.  Cockatiel, African Grey Parrot or something else?  Talk much?

@jdsfrance, the first layer is a thick material, then I placed this diuble layered bag over it. And I'm using an electric cable since it's what I had available.

Bass,
this seems to be a great product.
I am sure you will have a good result for your tree.
Thanks for letting us take part and please keep us updated how it worked out finaly in spring!

Bass, Where did you get this bag, is it actually insulated? It kind of looks like a plastic mesh bag. I'm also curious what you wrapped the fig with before you put the bag on. Hope it works for you.
