Wintering figs in rootceller

I put my figs in the rootceller 4 weeks ago, I opened the cellar today so I could  run a cord in to see the inside temp. It has been down to 0 here a few nights. The figs look good but there are drops of water on the inside roof .I think I should have put a vent in. It has been in the 40s hereand rain off and on. I hope the figs will be ok, Rex.

Don't you have them in baggies or something?  In Sphagnum in baggies?

I put my fig trees in the rootcellar, its too cold to have trees outside in the winter. The trees are in grow bags. I do have 2 trees inground too see if they will winter with hay and tarps Rex.

I misunderstood!  See, I don't know what the fig shuffle is all about, but I worry about my fig buddies.  I do love the grow bags!  I hope somebody in your state and zone responds.

If I was you I will never worry.
I store my one and two years old plants in a cellar (cold storage). I observe condensation on the concrete ceiling which becomes icy in January and February. Other times it become droplets on the ceiling. It does not worry me at all at that low temperatures. I have never observed mold or other problems at all. The condensation indicates there is enough moisture and no need for watering. Once I store in the cellar I never water because the soil in pots stays moist but not frozen.

It is good to hear that, I put hay on the figs in the cellar and there is a little mold on top of that but only on the top and none on the figs Rex.

Rex ,
The barn basement where I store my figs is also very humid and it hasn't been a problem.
Maybe look into putting in a vent next year.

I will put in a vent next year,Rex.

Temp in rootcellar  this am was 42 degrees temp outside was 20 degrees, I cant wait to see temp when its below 0.Rex
