This is what i have to do now,because for the last 2 years my tree's have suffered a lot of damage, because the low temps for the last two winters dipped down to -3 degrees,This is the first time in the last 11 years that i have to cover these tree's or shal i say bushes. As you can see these were large tree's till i had to cut them down, mainly because they are getting too big and beeing froze-out too.

Currently i am growing:Hardy chicago(for over 25 years),Magnolia(don't know which),Desert king,Negronne,lsu gold,sal c,Osborn pro,and a couple others in total about 9. The last 6 are rather small.

While i am at it i like to ask the forum: If you have a very small figtree in a pot growing this past summer do it need a dorment period,right now it is in rather warm workshop. Should i take it to my insulated,unheated garage.

How small is the fig tree? Has it hardedned off and become woody or is it still all green?

If it's green to the soil line I'd probably keep it inside.

My tree's are all about 9 feet tall and 10 feet wide. i have 9 tree's full size,scattered all over the hill amongs a lot of asian persimmon and a diverse group of paw paw's.I am just now trying to cover them up because i like to harden them up a bit more before i cover them up with leaves. I do believe that it is enough for my area(6b).I use to grow them with multy trunks,4 or 5,but they are getting too tall(had to use 6 foot ladder),not for me.
