Wuhan

Bass, that's what I call one delicious looking fig. How's the taste?

It had a nice smooth flavor. It was mild not the nutty figgy flavor that I'm used to with figs. Just looking at it makes it so delicious.

what part of the world does that fig hail from?

Bass,
like the other posters said thats a nice looking fig .
How old is plant i ask because you metion flavor was mild, is it a young plant under 3 full seasons ?

The tree is young. It's the first time it bears. It's probably it's second season in a pot. So I'm sure time will tell.

I had three nice looking figs on my young tree, but very early in the morning on the day I intended to pick them the squirrels had them for breakfast :(

Find the squirrel that ate them and eat it for dinner. Figs will make the squirrels extra tasty.

Squirrel Recipe's lots of them.

Bass (or anyone else):

Have you tasted your Wuhan lately?  Did it improve in flavor.  Is it worth growing?

I got a Wuhan from Gorgi about 2009 in a styrafoam coffee
cup and like a novice put it in the ground in the spring time,
watered it sparingly and let the deer browse it unknowingly.
It grew but was mowed by the deer for 2 years.  This Spring
I dug it up and potted it for a second chance for a real life and
it has really grown.  I cannot attest to the Wuhan taste because
it has not had any figs yet, but it is one tough tree to survive
the neglect it endured for 2 years in an open field.  Gorgi said it is a very special fig and I believe it is..  If pictures could be eaten, than one
would be delicious.
fig

Sounds pretty hardy from everything I've read.  It's not on too many peoples wish list though.  Hopefully someone chimes in that can attest to its taste and pictures would be cool too.

And... It's good you got it away from those deer :)

This is one tough fig. It survive the winter much neglected after the dog dug out & dragged plant with little soil to secluded spot in the yard. Its branches were mangled but it sure came back with a bang. Put on at least 3ft growth and fruited abundantly. So far I have not manage to sample any figs on the 3 season or more tree. It sure looks good for a chance to get me some ripe figs this season.

Paully, lesson to learn. The dog showed you how to root prune and take off some of the top of the tree. Haha. Seems to have worked great if you got some figs to taste. We have to talk about that fig.

someone says its "zhongzi" called in china, its an old china fig varieties, common.I first eated it  twenty years ago. its seeds are small and Usually you can not  feel them when eating.  It had a smooth flavor, many people  don't like it. In china, its not the fig lover's choice. Brunswick is much better than it.

thanks  uuu.  I think its a great looking fig.

Yes; it (Wuhan) is one of a kind fig worth having.
Nice dwarfish fig for pot-growing too!

However, there seems to be more than one with the same name?

I got mine back in 2006 from a non FF member (SSE - LA MC R 06),
and I even personally back-traced it to the original USA importer.

Here is a pic of my fruit which is consistent with that from Bass:

The one they're selling on eBay seem to be a different variant. I got mine for George.

I do not think so.
