Every Year about this time cuttings become available. Many wish to trade, and acquire new strains through friendships made on a forum that brings people from across the globe united in a passion for the fig in a single setting. amazing what technology has allowed us to do. It is in this way I have gained most of my figs.

When I joined back a few years ago I Had three fig trees a hardy Chicago from hirts garden, an Adriatic from willice orchards and a Celeste that I had acquired as cuttings from a member of the national home gardening club forum.

Now I have 27 fig trees in 19 different varieties. it is this that has allowed my collection to grow and test trees for cold hardiness. I grow my trees in ground unprotected in zone 6 and see what still ripens fruit. the strain of MvsB I have is by far awesome, and the best as far as cold hardy, complete winter die-back and still ripens fruit.

So What do people got, what are they willing to share, and what are others looking for.

I will be taking cuttings tomorrow and vacuum sealing them in bags. am thinking of using sphagnum moss lightly moistens with a solution of super thrive for storage.

I've been learning and pruning this weekend.  I've only got one tree, but it's a great one: Marseilles from the Monticello nursery.  I've made some good trades, I think, and still have a few cuttings left to share if anyone's interested.  See below for what I've been promised.

I also have two baby plants on the way from Hirt's, a Petite Nigra and an Olympian.  Hopefully I've have more to share next year!

just tried the vacuum sealer out and I think it will work great. 

cuttings for trade or postage. I have only a limited amount of some, and a whole lot of others. and I can only fit 2 maybe 3 packs into a small flat rate box ships for 5.95. via USPS. with using vacuum sealing and long fiber sphagnum moss in the shipping I am asking 8.00 shipping to help cover cost. ( this is for Postage)

If you are trading pack for pack cutting for cutting. (unless otherwise agreed upon) All my packs contain 4 cuttings each with 3 or more nodes. cuttings are from this years growth (green wood) and some 1st year wood.

At This Point I would Prefer Trade, but would be willing to do postage especially with those I have a lot of. In years past I listed and gifted 70 something packs all at once. it was crazy around here. slowing it down this year to something manageable.

Not really asking for anything on my wish list but I do have a bunch of extra cuttings still available.

I am new to figs and even more new to rooting cuttings. I found a gnarly, twisted, beautiful Black Italian I couldn't resist, then had to do a LOT of pruning to pot it in a larger planter. I found myself with 10 pencil-ish diameter cuttings about 5 inches long each, Googled a few tutorial videos, and set them in moist seed-starter mix. I have already got substantial visible roots on 4, and assuming healthy roots not yet visible on the rest. This was before I knew about communities trading cuttings, or I might not have set up all 10! How well to they ship already rooted? Is anyone even willing to trade pre-rooted cuttings?

If so, I have up to ***9*** Black Italians available for trade.

I am in ultra humid, thunderstorm and flash flood prone central Texas, so I would be tickled by any CLOSED EYE specimen I don't already have (bonus points for excellent taste and/or aesthetics, but not rotting in the tree is requisite #1)

Hmm, I probably won't trade my recently purchased cuttings (I'm not one to count my chickens before they hatch), and I don't have much to offer of my own (only LSU purple), but should I have multiples of some varieties if they survive to spring. I'm rooting several Takoma Violet, Peter's Honey, and Atreano cuttings.  I'll happily send plants for postage should they survive that long.  Potentially a Stella and White Triana as well.  Looking for Figo Preto (heh...fat chance, I know).

Of course, I don't expect anyone to send/trade me anything on a "if they survive until spring" promise :-P
