Yay! Finally Won An Ebay Auction!

I'm now the proud owner of my first VdB from TMC on this forum. I can't wait! :D

Congrats, I'm excited for you! There is nothing like getting a new fig.

Thats an excellent tasting fig, stay on the dark side.  ; )

Thank you, I'm tickled peachy about it! Jon has one waiting in the wings for me but I don't know when it will ship. I just wanted to get my hands on one, ya know? :)
And I've sniped several Ebay auctions, but the price was always out of reach for me....until today! Whoop! :D

Oh, that was you! LOL. Congrats.

Sowwy.... <giggles>

I  have several VdB's and no matter how many varieties I get, I won't cut back on those.

I have a VdB from him also, it is only a few inches tall and already trying to put out figs. Congrats on yours. I'm just getting into the eBay thing.

Seriously, I don't think that is gonna be a problem. It's funny, I asked Sirlamps about his thoughts on big/light verses smaller/dark and he concurred with my ideas exactly. What we sacrifice in size we gain, hand over fist, in taste, and I'm all about that! :)

Small dark types are real winners in the fig world just my humble opinion.  ; )

Congratulations!!! VDB is an excellent choice, it is productive and reliable, grows very well in pots and of course tastes fantastic. I would advise not to choose only dark figs though as some might counsel, as you surely would be passing up some real gems. A nice blend of both light and dark is always the best course of action for the best fig eating.

I myself have not tried a lot of ether dark or light figs. I have to say I do like them both of what I have had thus far. But with that said I do enjoy the darker ones a bit more. But so far I do like both and plan to expand my colection on cold hardy kinds. This winter I will be protecting my desert king trees so I might get a taste of them as well. Still unsure if the MvsB and RdB will need protection or sals g for that matter. Any thoughts?

Congrats on the ebay purchase!!!

VDB is a benchmark fig. A must for everybody.

Yay!  Congratulations.  It's a great fig.

Dave, It depends on the age of your tree and if it's inground or a pot.
