Wow, James.  I hate seeing that.  Hoping that's the last cold spell for you.

You need to come back home to us James :)

James

I was thinking along the lines of Tami, both the figs and you need to move! Weather here in MD looking much better this week.

James - seems like I remember us having a conversation 2 yrs ago at the fig get together in Lafayette about your moving to Colo.  If I remember correctly I said "the weather up there is very unpredictable with late snow being very common, and your trees will miss Houston", however, I also remember meeting the reason you were moving, LOL.

That's why in Colorado trucks are required to carry tire chains from September through May if you're traveling on I-70 west of Denver.

It's known to snow in June there.

Despite the weather report , Colorado is a gem of a State. I love their prevalent healthy lifestyle, the outdoor activities, the sheer beauty of the place as well as their progressive legislative decision on legalizing and monetizing weed. ;))

Before I packed up and left upstate NY, the Finger Lakes region, it snowed ( flurries, but snow) in early June. The answer:   move to Georgia!  Warm weather, warm people.

The wintery mix started several hours ago. I just moved the trees into the basement. I waited until the last comfortable moment in hopes that I could come up with a solution that didn't involve trucking tham downstairs (obviously my stupid brain didn't think of one). They will have to stay until Wednesday. This will be the first to see how helpful the kids are with the trees as I am supposed to fly out tomorrow morning.

Frank,

If you want to trade houses, let me know. I'll even throw in an ounce for you ;)

Brownies anyone?

that will be my new angle... trading pot for figs

James,

Give me your shirt size.

rafed, i think that's a cool shirt. i'd wear it.

Yep, I took my trees into the garage last night. Went out around noon and put some garbage cans over my peonies and blueberry bushes, no way am I going to lose all those blossoms. After work I'm going to put a tarp over my black and rasp berries. I'm waiting till this evening to see if enough snow piles on the strawberries to insulate all those blossoms. I guess it's a good thing my peach and cherry trees didn't blossom this year, they'd just be screwed. If I worked somewhere that was cool with it I'd probably just have some mota and forget about it. I can't partake, but I voted for it!
