Received this as a trade from a forum member and anxious to try it. Figs have swelled up and this one has a soft feel to it with a large open eye. I've got it in the hoop house so it's protected fro the elements.

How can I tell when it's ripe? Dark figs are easy, but I'm not sure when to pick it.

Also, the older VDB trees are loving life in the high tunnel. I've now clipped pinched them three times and they are 8 feet tall and still growing.

Beautiful plant and fruit.
If I was you  I will give it a day extra for the little bit greenness to go away. It is safe from critters in the greenhouse. But what the heck you have a few more close to swelling anyway why not try this one whenever you feel like it. Always experiment when there is some in reserve /or back up or extra.

My Colasanti White looks exactly like that. I wonder if its the same. I'd be interested to see the interior when it ripens.

You want to wait till it's hanging limp and very soft.

Hi Mike

Nice looking fig there. As others have already said, iI would give it a few more days, especially since you have it covered and weather is good. It should start to turn a bit darker, the way a banana does, and will feel a bit soft when you squeeze it. By the looks of yours, should be ready very soon. Nice pix.
