I am looking to buy a yellow fig tree. I have several dark varieties but no green/yellow figs- I am looking at the three most common yellow figs that seem to perfectly fit my 7b climate in the NC Piedmont. The three varieties are Kadota, Alma, and Excel. In the variety descriptions on the most reputable breeder websites, the details for these three seem to be very similar. Could you guys recommend one above the others? I am looking for which is the sweetest, largest fruit size, flavor, hardiness in zone 7b, etc.... much thanks.

Don't know about production though I do have two out of the three as cuttings I expect to have the other shortly.Others that are recommended for the southeast are LSU Gold and Golden Celeste/Champagne.
which of the two out of the three do you prefer and why?
Try184-15, 143-36, Stella, Capelas, Atreano, Paradiso, Battalagia Green, Hollier, LSU Gold, Trojano, Latarrula 'Red'(ejp3).Hollier is medium size but very, very good. Desert King is good here but in your zone, I am not sure.
hollier OK in zone 7b Piedmont NC?
I am in zone 6/7, British Columbia, Canada. It delivers a top notch crop. Never enough of it.
You can plant Hollier in ground in BC???
In Pot for now but getting in ground by mid spring. Adriano in Toronto got his in ground too.
fantastic. As of now, I have one really nice brown turkey and a yet untested Celeste, both in ground, about 3' tall... March cannot come soon enough. So, hopefully within the next couple of weeks I will be purchasing an O'Rourke and a Hollier.. thanks for the help.
Peters Honey!Don't know how it will do in ground in your zone but it has a honey taste and juicy.Maybe someone else can fill in.
OK... you can choose one: Excel or Osborne Prolific, for zone 7bwhich one?
